ANALYTICAL FORMULAS FOR DIPOLE EXCITATION CROSS-SECTIONS OF IONS COLLIDING WITH ELECTRONS

摘要：
Analytical formulas describing electron-impact induced dipole excitation of ions from threshold (E = DELTAE) to high energies (E much-greater-than DELTAE) are suggested. The formulas are based on the model dipole potential and are expressed in terms of McDonald functions. The results are compared with numerical calculations, other semiempirical formulas and experimental data.
