1979 and Spanish psychology, thirty years later

Thirty years ago, the Spanish academic and professional psychology concluded a winding historical process, which had been started thirty years before, whose main purpose was the achievement of the minimum institutional base to allow both an efficient and productive development. 1979, embryo of future, was a year in which the Spanish psychology as a whole staked its reputation. Indeed, 1979 shows us, in the light of the historical distance that provides us being in 2009, as the necessary liaison for two periods of historiography distinguishable, that is, a meeting point between a Psychology without own institutions, and other Psychology which needed to get used to run through the suitable corporate channels and already fortunately conquered. The aim of this paper is to deepen in the historiography value of the year 1979. To do this, we examine in detail some of the "essays" on psychology published by the "Fundacion Juan March" between May and September of that year. Their reading allow us to weigh the theoretical aspiration with which the psychologists planned their future, in the Spain of that moment, and also to assess the effort that had been doing from the University to face up to that task with a theoretical position epistemologically founded, reflexively assimilated, and elevated to the spirit of times.
