摘要
Glassy carbon electrodes have been proposed for electrochemical analysis because of their chemical inertness and good electrical conductivity. Carbon has also been proposed in new designs of lead-acid batteries. If glassy carbon is used as an anode, there is a danger of irreversible alteration of surface morphology and chemistry, resulting eventually in spalling erosion by the formation of a non-adherent oxidized layer leading to catastrophic exfoliation at high voltages/current densities.
