摘要：
The morphology of river meanders is described first, and then the measurement of meanders is discussed. These sections are followed by a study of the flow of water in curved channels, in order to explain some aspects of the morphology of meanders. In the penultimate section research on explanations of meanders is discussed, and the last selection is a brief survey over all. The objective of the review is twofold - to explain what happens in a meandering channel and to describe current research.
