Allele frequencies of fifteen autosomal short tandem repeat (STR) loci (CSF1P0, D7S820, D8S1179, D21S11, D2S1338, D3S1358, D13S317, D16S539, TH01, D18S51, D19S433, TPOX, vWA, D5S818 and FGA, included in the AmpFLSTR Identifiler, Applied Biosystems) were analyzed in a sample of 245 unrelated individuals from the military aircrew component from different geographic regions of Venezuela. Gene frequencies, the adjustment to Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium and some statistical parameters of forensic interest were estimated. The main aim of the present analysis is to establish a Venezuelan aircrew DNA database for forensic testing purpose. (C) 2009 Elsevier Ireland Ltd. All rights reserved.
