摘要
Low pressure fuel rich flames of ethylene oxide have been studied in a heated vertical flow reactor. Composition profiles were obtained through the reaction zone by sampling through a fine quartz probe directly into a mass spectrometer. The effects of addition of ethylene and ethane have been investigated. The products formed in the flame were CO, H2, C2H4, CH4, C2H6, C2H2, C4H6 and C4H4. The composition profiles showed little structure; all the products increasing through the reaction zone except for ethane which reached a maximum coinciding with almost complete removal of fuel and oxygen. Added ethane was consumed in the flame. Evidence is presented which suggests that the OH radical is mainly responsible for removal of fuel during the early stages of reaction. Composition and temperature profiles are presented and probable reaction mechanisms are discussed. © 1969.
