摘要
Very fast ( greater than 5 V/s) cyclic voltammetry measurements conducted on graphite in molten cryolite with alumina concentrations varying from 0. 25 weight percent (w/o) to 5 w/o showed the presence of an anodic peak prior to the peak associated with CO//2 formation. A corresponding reduction peak was observed in the cathodic branch, but the process was not reversible. These peaks were attributed to adsorption/desorption of oxygen forming a carbon-oxygen surface compound. The surface coverage was of the order of a monolayer.
