摘要：
Increasing information about excitatory amino acid systems emphasizes their enormous complexity. Regional differences in this complexity may explain why different populations of neurons are affected in the various conditions where an excitotoxic mechanism has been proposed. A better understanding of such possible regional differences seems essential for the design of pharmacological agents.
