摘要
Measurements of radial velocities of 159 red stars in the globular clusters M 3, M 4, M5, M 10, M 12, M 13, and M 71 are presented. These measurements were taken using a correlation spectrometer. One-dimensional stellar velocity dispersions are calculated for M 4, M 5, M 10, M 12, and M 71 within the framework of King's single-component models, and the masses of the clusters and the mass-to-light ratios (M/L(V)) are determined. The mass of M 71 is (1-2).10(4) M., whereas the masses of the remaining clusters lie in the range (1-2).10(5) M.. The ratio M/L(V) is 1-2 (in solar units, with uncertainties of 40-100%. M5 is shown to rotate at 0.25 +/- 0.13 km/sec.pc, and the position angle of the projected rotation axis is 130-degrees (in the model of rigid-body rotation). The rotation axis is almost perpendicular to the major axis of the apparent ellipse of central density contours, suggesting a possible link between the flattening and rotation of the cluster.
