摘要
When creating an expert system, using various knowledge acquisition methods ensures a more thorough coverage of the expert's knowledge. Each method offers its own advantages for communicating with the expert. An examination of AESOP (An Expert System On Papermaking) illustrates how an expert's troubleshooting knowledge is captured and translated into a rule-based expert system. AESOP uses three knowledge acquisition techniques. Unstructured interviews provide an informal setting for intiating communications with the expert. Structured interviews capture the heuristic knowledge to be translated into the rules of the expert system.
