Two marketing studies were conducted with human services providers in eastern Massachusetts. Although both surveys indicated a comprehension of marketing techniques, the surveys also found a lack of understanding of marketing research. Unless marketing research is undertaken in human services, marketing efforts will merely be an unsuccessful attempted takeover of a potentially useful corporate management technique. © 1991 Human Sciences Press, Inc.
