EQUILIBRIUM STRUCTURE OF BERYLLIUM DIFLUORIDE FROM LEAST-SQUARES ANALYSIS OF GAS-PHASE ELECTRON-DIFFRACTION DATA

摘要
The molecular structure of beryllium difluoride has been studied by means of gas-phase electron diffraction. The thermal average (r(g)) bond length Be-F at 758 degrees C is 1.386(3) Angstrom. The equilibrium structure is linear with the bond length 1.374(4) Angstrom. Force constants and vibrational frequencies have been obtained from gas-phase electron diffraction data alone.
