摘要
A new series of chlorovanadium(III)-Schiff base complexes of the type [V(SB) Cl] and [V2(SB) Cl4] have been prepared; where SB = dianionic tetradentate Schiff base ligands. Oxidation of V(III)-Schiff base complexes by dry oxygen gave [V(SB)Cl2] and [V2(SB)Cl6] respectively. The complexes are characterized by elemental analysis, IR, electronic and conductance measurements. The room temperature effective magnetic moments of the V(III) and V(IV) complexes lie between 2.96-2.92 and 1.69-1.63 BM/V atom respectively. EPR spectra of V (IV) complexes suggest octahedral geometry around the V-atom. Base hydrolysis of the V (IV) complexes gave [VO(SB)] and [(VO)2(SB)Cl2] for both types respectively.
