摘要
In this paper we study the correlation between electronegativity and high temperature superconductivity for various types of copper oxides. For determining the electronegativity parameters we use the original thermochemical values due to Pauling as well as more recent values obtained by Martynov and Batsanov using the average ionization potential of the valence electrons. It is found that the electronegativity parameters defined either as an average of the electronegativities for cations and anions taken together or as the difference between the averages of electronegativities for cations and anions taken separately concentrate in a narrow range for about 60 superconducting oxides studied here. It is emphasized that the relation between electronegativity and superconductivity will contribute to an understanding of the connection between the electrostatic action of the electron to the lattice and the mechanism of superconductivity.
