摘要
The present gap between demand and supply of electricity in India may grow up to 70% in the year 2045, if corrective measures are not taken immediately. The projected situation for the growing Indian economy needs to be tackled by measures to reduce demand as well as to explore additional energy efficient technologies. This paper examines the effect of introducing energy conservation potential on future electricity requirement. A logarithmic linear econometric model used in this study shows that if full potential of electricity savings is possible to be introduced the future electricity requirement and supply gap is reduced to 50%.
