摘要
The present work aims to deal with rhetoric as the predominant form of political culture in the Italian Renaissance. To do so, we will analyze rhetoric in Classical Antiquity in Aristotle and Cicero, who thought of rhetoric as based on persuasion and as necessary to all aspects of human life. We will address Civic Humanism in Coluccio Salutati and Leonardo Bruni, figures who used rhetoric to assiduously defend the republican regime. Finally, we will approach rhetoric through the analysis given by Niccolo Machiavelli of the construction of the political image, or rather, of the politics of persuasion.
