Adequate diagnostics in rheumatic patients always starts with establishment of a psychosomatic history. As many rheumatic patients are thus convinced of the necessity of psychologic care or psychotherapy as psychosomatic patients in general. We therefore first describe the psychosomatic diagnostics in the form of a well-established interview technique and then outline treatment procedures, which can be performed in all practices: physiotherapy, psychopharmacotherapy and autogenous training as well as the psychologic guidance and cooperation of physicians from different specialties.
