摘要
The number of people > 60 years of age will double in the next 20 years. Factors which influence lifespan are social and genetic factors as well as physical activity and nutrition. Women live approximately 4.2 years longer than men. Exercise capacity is one of the most important prognostic factors concerning mortality in the elderly. Regular exercise training can lead to a better quality of life and has a positive effect on fall prevention in older persons. In this article gender-specific difference concerning the exercise capacity and the exercise training will be discussed.
