摘要
An electrochemical double-cell method has been used to measure diffusion constants and chemical potentials of hydrogen in amorphous Ni1-xNbx (x = 0.20, 0.26, 0.34, 0.41, 0.54, and 0.62). Ni-Nb has a smaller binding energy for hydrogen than the similar Ni-Zr and thus it is possible to probe the Nb4 sites rather than the 3Zr-Ni sites studied in the latter system. Using a gaussian distribution of hydrogen binding energies for the 4Nb sites we find a mean binding of -100 +/- 15 MeV with a half-width of 100 +/- 25 MeV. The diffusion constant of hydrogen depends on both alloy composition and hydrogen concentration, ranging from 10(-15) to 10(-12) m2 s-1.
