Modern science presents itself as the most reasonable and the most developed form of human cognition, strictly objective, neutral with a view to values, i.e. without any subjective and social biases. From the feminist viewpoint it becomes evident that sciences do not meet this demand, particularly with regard to the neutral attitude to sex which they proclaim. The feminist research of science has proved that the sexual attitude, particularly the male one, affects three levels: the social and historical level in which women were absolutely excluded from the institution of science until the beginning of the twentieth century; the psychical level, on the basis of the interrelation of scientific habit and male character; and the symbolic-cognitive level, which is documented in the present text with certain examples from biology. Due to the fact that most scientists deny the male bias of their disciplines, science contributes to the legitimation of the nowadays still existing patriarchal structures in the society.
