摘要
The concept of topotaxy is discussed. First of all, topotaxy is defined strictly on an experimental basis only, refusing all the a priori implications regarding the transformation mechanism. The transformation mechanism itself was established for various reactions as directly as possible by using mainly electron microscopy techniques. The basic role of both nucleation and growth phenomena in topotactic reactions is illustrated and discussed. It is shown that oriented nucleation and growth can be considered as the basic processes in topotactic phase transformations with various implications: formation of specific textures for the reaction products (oxidation and dehydration of Ni(OH)2), obtention of new metastable structures (dehydration of MoxW1-xO3. 1 3H2O precursors with 0 ≤x≤1), epitaxial-type growth in phase transitions (phase transitions for MoxW1-xO 3 new oxides). Topotaxy appears as the most current way of transformation in solid state reactions; this is related to the oriented nucleation stage. © 1990.
