摘要
The objective of bringing out this Report is to examine the status of Information Technology in the global context. The technology trends in the following fields, are examined in detail, namely Computers, Telecom, Networking Technology, Manufacturing Technology, Software and Applications. The focus has been on integrative trends and implications. The Report has been prepared on available materials and reports and references for further search is also provided. This Report does not cover all the major activities but concentrates on emerging trends which will have large impact on the economy and society as a whole. The intention of this report is to sensitize policy makers and executives regarding the emerging information technology revolution. India cannot be a stand aloof actor and a long term concerted strategy to move along analyzing the global changes and to derive maximum synergy through long range technology forecasting exercises, is needed.
