摘要：

Vascular risk factors play a role in the occurrence of Alzheimer's disease, and perhaps also in the evolution of the disease. Hypertension at middle age increases surely the risk, just as hypotension, low cerebral blood flow, diabetes, hyperlipemia, hyperhomocysteinemia, smoking, and atrial fibrillation, mainly through vascular mechanisms. Some correlations need clarification. Moreover, cardiac anomalies have been revealed in Alzheimer's disease, as well as a dysautonomic syndrome in some cases. These data must be considered in a preventive perspective and also in the daily care of these patients.
