PROPAGATION OF WAVES IN THE INTERIOR OF A THERMOELASTIC DIELECTRIC HALF-SPACE

A plane Lamb problem for a semi-infinite thermoelastic dielectric body is presented. The loading acting on the boundary is separated into two systems: the first is associated with the displacement field, the polarization field, the electric potential field, and the temperature field, the second system is related to the components u//3 and P//3 only. A general solution for these systems is derived. The last section is devoted to 1-dimensional problems and the results therefrom are used to obtain a closed-form solution for the case in which the surface energy is assumed to vary harmonically and the boundary conditions are homogeneous.
