OBSERVATIONS OF THE DIFFUSION-COEFFICIENT OF THE PERHYDROXYL ION (HO-2) IN LITHIUM HYDROXIDE SOLUTIONS

摘要
The diffusion coefficient of the perhydroxyl ion (HO-2) was determined in 4.5 M LiOH supporting electrolyte. Over the range of concentration 0.2-0.8 M H2O2 it was found to be independent of concentration and had a value of 5 ± 0.2 × 10-6 cm2/s at 293 K. The experimental data were obtained chronoamperometrically used a rde. At the limiting current, O2 evolution was found to be almost entirely suppressed and the current limiting species was therefore assumed to be the HO-2 ion. The electrochemical mechanism for the perhydroxyl reduction reaction was invoked to explain the experimental results. © 1979.
