摘要
While most of the literature on multilingualism and translation in the legal domain focuses on nouns or noun phrases, such as contract, property, due diligence, this paper is concerned with connectives, i.e. linguistic expressions indicating a logical relationship between the propositions of a text. A preliminary investigation is provided of the use and translation into Italian of the English connectives notwithstanding, subject to, whereas and with( out) prejudice, both in contracts and in normative texts. Lack of consistency and shifts in meaning in the translations highlight the need for further research, in a comparative perspective, on the logical relationships established by the connectives and their legal consequences.
