摘要
Three general problems persist in vibracoring: 1) Sediment compacts 10-40% when vibracoring unconsolidated fluvial and deltaic deposits. 2) Excessive time is required to record lithostratigraphic logs and determine lateral continuity of sand facies along a transect. 3) Lithostratigraphic logging is subjective and not standardized, whereas gamma-ray logs provide a more objective method of comparing modern and ancient facies successions. To improve the logging of compacted vibracores, reduce logging time, and provide an approach for standardizing the logging of modern facies successions, we devised a method of combining gamma-ray logging with vibracoring. -from Authors
