Canudos plural: moving images of the sertao at war

This article analyzes produced the cinematographic and video representations during the centennials of Canudos (1993-1997). It can be affirmed that the media if are not the memory places, with certainty they are privileged spaces in the recording and production of the memory contemporary. Of the multiple audiovisual universe, I opted to analyzing the battles of the memory of Canudos, comparing the film of Sergio Rezende (Canudos War, 1997), that it reconstructed the Euclidean memory of the War of Canudos, with the films and videos of Pola Ribeiro, Antonio Olavo, Cireneu Kuhn, Alejandro Gabriel Miguelez and Otto Guerra, who approach Canudos by oral tradition. As a past that doesn't want to pass, the multiplicity of view on Canudos configures in an interesting dialogue between historiography and cinematography in the construction narrative on the hinterland as metaphor of the nationality.
