THE EFFECT OF LIME AND MINERAL FERTILIZERS ON NUTRIENT LOSSES ASSOCIATED WITH THE DRAINAGE OF SOD-PODZOLIC SOIL

Drainage of Sod-Podzolic soils is shown to result in the leaching of Ca, Mg, and other plant nutrients. Addition of mineral fertilizers and lime was accompanied by a corresponding increase in the losses of these substances from the soil but, when applied at rates calculated to produce yields of 30-40 cntr(1)/ha, they did not accumulate in the drainage water in ecologically dangerous concentrations.
