摘要
A mathematical model for the auto-ignition of single droplets of multicomponent liquid hydrocarbon mixtures is described, and applied to predict ignition delay times as a function of composition for mixtures approximating commercial diesel fuels. The mixtures devised for the calculations allowed independent variation of the distillation properties and chemical make-up. The results show that the distillation curve of the fuel is in itself no indicator of ignition behaviour; rather, ignition is governed primarily by the chemical nature and boiling points of the most volatile constituents of the fuel.
