APPLICATION OF DISCRETE FOURIER-TRANSFORMS TO A 4TH-ORDER DIFFUSION EQUATION

摘要
A discrete Fourier transform technique was used to solve a time-dependent, partial differential equation in one and two spatial dimensions. The NBCH equation governs the time evolution of morphology in binary polymer-polymer systems that phase separate by spinodal decomposition. It is nonlinear and fourth-order in the spatial derivatives. The solution algorithm is suitable for vector processing and is readily extendable to three spatial dimensions and to other governing equations.
