CHEMICAL PROCESSES OF LASER-INDUCED SEDIMENTARY-MATERIAL FORMATION FROM VAPORIZED CS2

摘要
Previously reported experimental results that the products of laser-induced aerosol formation from vaporized CS2 are sulfur polymers and graphite-like and fullerene-like carbon polymers were verified by calculations done using MM2 and MOPAC. Furthermore, the transition state of the primary bimolecular process was studied using MOPAC. The results indicate that the reaction CS2 + CS2 --> S=C=C=S + S2 can occur and that the reaction CS2* + CS2 --> 2CS + S2 cannot, when CS2* is in the highly excited ground state. Thus, the results of our calculations agree well with the results of the experimental studies.
