摘要
A continuum theory is developed for a mixture consisting of three components: an elastic solid, viscous fluid and gas. Balance laws are given for individual components of the mixture. The second law of thermodynamics is used to develop general and linear constitutive equations. Field equations are obtained for a heat conducting mixture. Relation is established between the present theory and classical diffusion theories that are presently prominent among the applied workers in the field of swelling.
