This article reviews the literature on pathology and symptoms of the major intrinsic shoulder pain syndromes. Treatment rationale for heating and cooling agents is suggested, based on the pathology of the syndromes and the physiological effects of the agents. Affections of the shoulder and their treatment are listed in a table.
