OPTICAL-CONSTANTS AND VIBRATIONAL BEHAVIOR OF (NH4)2ZNBR4 CRYSTALS

摘要
Far-infrared reflectivity of ammonium tetrabromozincate crystals has been measured at 300 and 105 K in the range 50-500 cm-1. The low-temperature measurements are made in the ferroelectric state of the crystal. Optical constants and frequencies of optical phonon modes have been evaluated by means of a three-parameter classical oscillator fit to the reflectivity data. Absorption spectra of polycrystalline samples have been measured in FIR and NIR regions. A vibrational assignment of the observed frequencies is given. It is suggested that the ferroelectric transition is most likely of the displacive type.
