摘要
A very comprehensive set of airborne concentration measurements for gaseous HNO3 and NH3 and particulate NH4+, SO4(2-) and NO3- collected abroad R.R.S. Challenger over the Southern Bight of the North Sea has been compared with the predictions of an Eulerian atmospheric transport-chemistry model. Comparison of time-averaged concentrations and temporal variations shows generally excellent agreement between measurements and model predictions. It is concluded that, given the difficulties of making airborne concentration measurements over the Sea, the model provides a reliable and cost-effective means of estimating pollutant concentrations.
