摘要
To improve the seriously nonuniform effect in electroosmotic consolidation for soil improvement, a new method was adopted on the self-developed apparatus in this paper, namely soil improvement by electro-osmosis with vacuum drainage in cathode. Three experiments of electroosmotic consolidation of kaolin under different boundary conditions were conducted. Moreover, the paper presents a measurement and discussion about the current, outflow of water, settlement, and undrained shear strength. The results showed that compared with the other two experiments, the water drainage would cost less time, along with larger surface settlement. As for the undrained shear strength, it is higher and the improvement is more uniform in the test of electro-osmosis with vacuum drainage in the cathode.
