PSEUDOPOLYVALENT IMMEDIATE-TYPE SENSITIZATION WITHIN THE MEANING OF CROSS-ALLERGY BETWEEN BEE-VENOM AND WASP-VENOM, POLLEN, VEGETABLE FOODS AND CRUSTACEANS
We report upon 6 patients with very similar, almost pathognomonic RAST constellations. In comparison to so-called IgE giants these patients show relatively uniform RAST levels of average degree especially for plant food, Pollen, hymenoptera venom and crustaceans. Probably it is due to a cross sensitization caused by a common carbohydrate antigen in plants with relations to hymenoptera venoms and in part crustaceans. 3 of 6 patients had a clinically manifest food allergy, in 1 case combined with an allergy to hymenoptera venoms. A further patient with a similar RAST constellation only had a clinically manifest allergy to bee venom. We discuss pathogenesis, clinical relevance and therapeutical possibilities.
