摘要
Vector autoregression models are constructed in an attempt to isolate structural disturbances which may have had an influence on aggregate or sectoral fluctuations in the Boston economy. The alleged role of defense spending in the Massachusetts Miracle appears to be slight except for some particular sectors. The upturn appears to have been created by (non-defense) technology shocks, and the subsequent downturn by factors idiosyncratic to the Boston economy and external demand shocks.
