摘要：
The alkaloid content of mature leaves in Catharanthus roseus plants increased over two-fold under severe water stress, when the leaf water-potential decreased below -1.9 MPa. The alkaloid content in other plants parts did not change (stem and immature leaves) or decreased (root). An increase in the alkaloid content of mature leaves was also observed when watered plants were treated with 1 mM abscisic acid.
