AC METHOD FOR MEASURING THE MAGNETOCALORIC EFFECT AND AN APPLICATION IN A STUDY ON GDVO4

摘要
A dynamical procedure is developed which allows to measure the magnetocaloric effect of a magnetized sample at any desired temperature and magnetic field point. An ac modulation of the field produces a periodic temperature change from which the size and the sign of the magnetocaloric effect can be calculated. The method is tested with a study on GdVO4 in determining the phase diagram.
