KINETICS AND INTERFACIAL SURFACE IN THE CASE OF EXTRACTION OF SOME ACTINIDES AND LANTHANIDES

The rates of the extraction of a number of actinides and lanthanides in both extractors with a fixed contact surface between the phases and extractors with intensified mass transfer under emulsion stirring conditions, particularly centrifugal extractors, have been compared. The value of the interfacial surface in centrifugal extractors has been calculated on the basis of the kinetic data. Similar values of the specific interfacial surface have been obtained at identical stirring rates for systems with TBP, despite the differences between the components being extracted and the solvents.
