摘要
Mucormycosis is an angioinvasive disease with an acute onset, fatal and aggressive course, which is commonly seen in immunosuppressed patients. In this case report, a 55-year-old diabetic man with rhinocerebral mucormycosis who was admitted with fever, headache and periorbital cellulitis, was presented. Although liposomal amphotericin B was given for as long as 90 days after an endoscopic sinus surgery, the clinical picture showed progression without a clinical response. Therefore, oral posaconazole was prescribed. Posaconazole therapy enabled not only his survival but also his follow up on an outpatient basis. Posaconazole was prescribed during one year without any severe side effect and was well tolerated. As a result, posaconazole is a safe drug that may be used as salvage therapy in patients with mucormycosis refractory to liposomal amphotericin B treatment.
