URETEROPELVIC OBSTRUCTION IN ADULTS WITH PREVIOUSLY NORMAL PYELOGRAMS - REPORT OF 5 CASES

Ureteropelvic obstruction usually is thought to be congenital. However, 5 cases of ureteropelvic junction obstruction are presented, which document acquired obstruction in adults who previously had normal pyelograms. The etiology of this development is unclear. This report emphasizes the importance of continued followup and the need for periodic re-evaluation of patients with unexplained urinary symptoms or persistent flank pain, even when the initial pyelograms are normal.
