摘要
In this paper, the antecedents of consciousness and metacognition concepts are presented in some of the main theoretical approaches of the XX Century, that is to say: Jean Piaget's genetic psychology and the school of Geneva, the historical- cultural psychology of Lev Vygostki and its collaborators, and current cognitive psychology. The analysis of the first and second mentioned approaches allows to track the foundations of the relatively recent concept of metacognition. Consequently, consciousness is understood as a nuclear problem in the psychological explanation and metacognition like a widely related construct.
