We have developed a simple ansatz, a spin-off of the Lund relativistic string model, which is closely related to the soft QCD concepts of area law behavior and longitudinal phasespace. Thus far, with only 5 major parameters, we find no significant deviations from data over a broad range of specific flavored mesons and spin 1/2 baryons, though there are indications of possibly significant deviations in the spin 3/2 baryons. The relationship with soft QCD concepts and the broad agreement with data utilizing a small number of parameters supports the idea of the use of the ansatz as a ''first order'' description of the hadronization process.
