FORMATION AND MAGNETIC-PROPERTIES OF RAPIDLY QUENCHED R2FE17CX (R=GD AND HO) COMPOUNDS WITH HIGHER-C CONCENTRATION

摘要
We have shown that the R2Fe17Cx compounds with higher carbon concentration can be prepared by melt-spinning at the quenching rates of 10-20 m/s. These carbides are found to be stable at high temperatures. The introduction of carbon atoms in the R2Fe17 has a small influence on the saturation magnetization. Unit cell volumes and Curie temperatures are comparable to those of the corresponding nitrides or carbides produced by solid-gas reaction.
