Higher energy excitons in polypeptide films

摘要
Optical transmission spectra of polypeptide films show discrete bands near 1600 angstrom only for the alpha and polyproline II helices. Comparison with the three state solutions of the monomer perturbation matrix supports an exciton rather than plasmon origin for these bands.
