CHLOROPHYLL-B IN THE EASTERN NORTH PACIFIC-OCEAN

摘要：
Chlorophyll b concentrations were estimated in areas of the eastern North Pacific Ocean using a high pressure liquid chromatography system. The pigment was clearly detected in 72% of the samples analyzed, but its concentration is relatively low compared to chlorophyll a. Chlorophyll b/a ratios were < 0.02, 0.06 and 0.09 in 51, 79 and 95% of the samples, respectively. At these ratios, the error in chlorophyll a estimates using the fluorometric technique is < 5%.
