摘要
Empirical climatology offers only a limited basis for climate prediction. Numerical modelling of climate opens wider perspectives, mainly because of the ability fully to take into account the role of the internal forcing factors. The issues of determining natural variability and the sensitivity of the Earth's climate to increased greenhouse forcing are briefly discussed. A proposal is made to combine efforts in numerical weather prediction and numerical climate studies.
